Clinician Spotlight: Lisa White, NP
by

Innerwell Team

Let’s start with something easy. Can you tell us a little about your professional background and areas of focus?

I have been an ER nurse for almost 3 decades and decide to change paths in 2019 due to interactions with psychiatric patients in the ER. While working there I felt that many of the "emergency" complaints were preventable if the patient had access to mental health care. I decided to go back to school to pursue mental health to help society make mental health care more accessible to those with low SES.

How would you describe your approach to therapy?

I will walk with you side by side on your journey. I believe in a person centered approach to therapy

What would your patients say about you?

My patients would say Lisa is kind, thoughtful, she really cares about me and she also has a good sense of humor.

How did you become interested in working with psychedelics including ketamine?

I became interested when I was in school. The information that was given to us as student about CAM was on one slide, it was brushed over and I wanted to know more about it.

What excites you most about the future of psychedelics?

I am hoping that one day it becomes FDA approved for the treatment of mental health disorders.

Enough about work! Let’s try some rapid fire questions;
  • First, Where do you live? - West Orange NJ but I identify as a bonafide Brooklynite
  • What's a perfect afternoon? - Spending time creating new dishes in my kitchen.
  • Favorite food? Pizza/Pasta - That is a trick question. Any hot and gooey confection, with a dollop of vanilla ice cream.
  • Describe yourself in two words. - Selfless, understanding.
